About us

The Bookshop is an independent bookshop located in the historic market town of Mold in North East Wales.

We began our bookselling journey in Mold in 1981 in a tiny shop by The Cross, it was amazing how we were able to squeeze so many books into such a small area. However, it soon became obvious that we needed more space, and in 1993 we moved to our present location in Upper High Street. These new premises gave us the opportunity to expand our range of titles and to have a dedicated Children's corner. We also stock jigsaws.

Mold is situated in the Alyn Valley at the base of The Clwydian Range, a designated area of outstanding natural beauty. The Offa’s Dyke Path and The Wales Coast Path are nearby. To help you explore the many walks in the area we stock a wide range of walking books and Ordnance Survey maps.

Our selection of local history books reflects Mold’s fascinating history. The 3,000yr old Gold Cape which is now on display in The British Museum was found here in the C19th. A replica is on display in the local library. Our beautiful St. Mary’s church was commissioned by Margaret Beaufort, the wife of Thomas Stanley, Lord Mold, to commemorate the victory of her son Henry Tudor at the battle of Bosworth. Our rich heritage has inspired many local historians to write about our past and we are always happy to help them to promote their titles.

If you haven’t yet visited our shop please call in, we would love to meet you and talk about our books
